Sunday’s CHILD

Time is everything. And it is precious. It flies by us quickest when we have our own kids. Don’t you think? They tend to change every single day, especially when they are young. As they grow in body and mind, they also lose something with time. And this, we cannot turn back. The days are long, but the years are short.

I am the father of Lukas Oliver. He has changed my life profoundly. When I look at him, I have a strange feeling – as if I am watching myself re-living my life. Since the day he came out to this world I have been documenting his everyday life as well as the life of my family. My photos will be the best gift to him when he grows up. They will be time machine for him. Photographs become records of a personal story. Lukas’s story.

I was keen on photography long before his arrival. With a background in journalism and many years of writing, I discovered my hidden passion for photographing kids and their families. Putting together a visual story that tries to speak. As Ralph Gibson, a famous American photographer, once said: „A photograph is a word.“

I am like a child. Finding a story anywhere. In everyday life. The story of family interests me the most. I will visit you at the place you call Home to capture your family’s life in pictures. To tell a story with photographs that remembers little things long after they are forgotten. To preserve childhood memories. In the story you and your children tell.

Because YOU are the STORY.

In Slovak language, my mother tongue: Vy ste príbeh!

Everybody and everything has a story, and this is what I am eager to uncover and relay in my work. It is an absolute privilege to be able to work creatively and document people‘s lives with my camera. What I enjoy most is visiting families regularly to capture a photographic record of children growing up over a number of years.

WHY AT HOME ? Home truly is where the connection is. It is a place where memories are made, dreams are dreamt and where love is stored. To paint the true story of your family I will work in and around your home, in your backyard or garden. Documenting what is real and important to you doesn’t get any better than that. I will try bring some poetry into the photos. With kids, every detail counts.

What does your family do, feel, think and looks like everyday, any day, today?
